Common questions
Can I use this full-strength or do I have to dilute it?
Both. For heavy grease, carbonized grime, or baked-on oil, spray it direct and let it work for 30–60 seconds before wiping. For routine degreasing — countertops, stovetops, light shop grease — dilute it to your preferred ratio and spray as normal. The formula is designed to perform at full strength without damaging metal, stone, concrete, or plastic surfaces.
Is this safe to use in commercial kitchens and food-prep areas?
Yes. The formula contains 0% petroleum solvents, chlorine, phosphates, and VOCs — the chemicals that make conventional degreasers a ventilation hazard in enclosed kitchens. It rinses completely with water, leaving no chemical residue on food-contact surfaces. It's used by food-service facilities across Canada.
How is this different from No.72 Degreaser MAX?
No.71 is a ready-to-use or lightly dilutable degreaser for everyday to moderate grease. No.72 MAX is a high-concentrate formula (20 mL per 4 L of water) built for heavy industrial degreasing — think manufacturing floors, engine bays, and exhaust hoods with weeks of carbonized buildup. If your grease wipes off with a rag and some effort, No.71 is your product. If you need a pressure washer or a scraper first, No.72 is the one.
Does "plant-derived" mean it's weaker than industrial degreasers?
No. Janitori has been formulating commercial-grade cleaning products in Montreal since 1994 — the same lab that supplies arenas, gyms, and industrial facilities developed this formula. "Plant-derived" describes the ingredient source, not the cutting power. It breaks down grease the same way conventional degreasers do, without the respiratory risk of petroleum solvents and VOCs.
What surfaces can I use this on?
Metal (stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron housings), stone (granite, concrete), plastic, ceramic tile, painted surfaces, and rubber. It's residue-free, so it won't leave a film on stainless or etch stone. Avoid use on unsealed wood and natural marble — those surfaces are sensitive to any degreasing agent, plant-derived or not.
