Common questions
Does this actually eliminate odor or just cover it up?
It eliminates. Most sprays use fragrance or cyclodextrin to trap odor molecules temporarily — the smell comes back because the bacteria that produce the odor are still alive. Sports Skunk uses plant-derived deodorizing agents that neutralize odors at the molecular level. No artificial fragrance layered on top.
Is it safe to spray inside helmets, gloves, and gear that touches skin?
Yes. The formula contains 0% parabens, SLS, EDTA, NTA, chlorine, phosphates, petroleum solvents, and VOCs. It's non-toxic and non-irritating. Spray directly on the interior of helmets, shin pads, gloves, shoulder pads — anywhere bacteria live. No rinsing needed.
Why not just use vinegar or OdoBan from Home Depot?
Vinegar works decently but acetic acid can degrade adhesives, foam, and certain synthetics over time — and your gear smells like vinegar until it dries. OdoBan is a quaternary ammonium sanitizer designed for floors, not sports equipment padding. Sports Skunk is purpose-built for the specific bacteria cocktail in sports gear, safe for every material in your bag, and doesn't leave a chemical or vinegar smell behind.
How long does a bottle last?
The 500 mL trigger spray delivers roughly 333 sprays. If you're spraying 5 pieces of equipment after every session, 3-4 times a week, that's about 4-5 weeks per bottle. The 4 L refill jug gives you ~2,666 sprays — enough for a full competitive season of daily use. Most families with multiple kids go straight to the 4 L.
Does 'plant-based' mean it's weaker than chemical sprays?
No. Janitori has been formulating commercial-grade cleaning products in Montreal since 1994 — the same lab that makes industrial degreasers and facility cleaners developed this formula. It's stocked by Source for Sports and Lowe's Canada, and used by gyms and arenas. Plant-derived describes the ingredient source, not the strength.
